Rice bran wax (RBW) is a by product of rice bran oil refinery. Crude RBW from refineries in Thailand had only 20–40% of the wax ester. The major impurity was triglyceride (TG). Among the three green extraction methods, SUBLDME gave the oils from both white and red bran the highest total phytosterol (1682.21 and 1784.17 mg/100 g), followed by SF-CO 2 (1347.33 and 1644.40 mg/100 g, respectively). The maximum phytosterol found in the CRBO extracted using SF-CO 2 was 1535–1912 mg/100 g [ 100 ].

The simultaneous degumming and dewaxing of the crude oil with a solution of water and CaCl, followed by crystallization at a low temperature (20°C), facilitated precipitation of the hydratable and nonhydratable phosphatides along with the wax, which enabled its separation and reduction to a greater extent.
